[comp.text] Shading in LaTeX ?

naparst@cartan.UUCP (12/05/87)

Is it possible to shade a region using the LaTeX picture environment ?

Also, does anyone know how to make the symbol for ``section'' ? It looks
sort of like this:
				  /
                                 \
				 /\
				 \/
				  \
				 /

You know...theres an old saying...

RTFM == read the (insert your favorite f curse) manual...

the command for the section symbol...as described on page 40 and 157 of the
LaTeX manual...is '\S'....

for an extended picture environment, which can be used with TeX as well as
LaTeX, pick up the file 'pictex.tar' from june.cs.washington.edu in the
anonymous FTP directory.

It contains the .tex files for a package called 'pictex' which is simply
out-standing. Does arbitrary lines, graphs, etc. very nice.

Could someone post this package to the net so that those of us on USENET have
access to it? I do not have access to Internet, so I cannot get it via ftp. But
I am certain that there are a lot of people in my situation who would like to
get this package.

Thanks.

I would like to second that. We do not have ftp access either. How about
a posting in comp.sources. or could someone email it to me

Another vote. `Anonymous ftp' may be wonderful if you can do it but...
