I implemented TeX/LaTeX on our Unix SysV system, the DVI files look well as tested by one of our colleague using Apple LaserWriter and the corresponding DVI program. However when I'm using these files (.DVI) with the dvican program (DVI for Canon laser A1 and A2) it works sometimes: I compiled DVICAN with the 8 bits option, and when I send the .CAN directly to the printer using the lp command, it does'nt work: & are some of the results I obtained. After transfert to a IBM compatible micro computer, I used the (MS-DOS) print command, it works sometime, apparently only for short files, when it does'nt work it prints the beginning and not the W (go to the next page and cut it), nor the A: but a scandinavian like A (with o on the top) and so one. I recompiled dvican with the 7 bits option, when I send the .CAN by lp command to the printer, I received the message (from the Canon printer): 40 line error (=bad communication) and after a "skip error" the file is printed till a W (which is cuted and go to the next page...) and with A scandinavian type... Questions: How to configure the Canon printer (Xoff, DSR, ETX..., 7 or 8 bits and with which parity...) Does anyone know a tested DVICAN program? Any help would be appreciated.
