We are running into problems using Common TeX 2.1 with a memory
overflow. I have increased the capacity as much as is reasonably
possible and am afraid to increase it more due to unacceptable
inefficiencies which will creep in.
The problem is that if you define BIG or BIGG then an hword becomes 32
bit and causes a mword to be 64 bit. The way I see it, if you define
BIG or BIGG you are wasting LOTS of memory (approximately half) because
of the way mword is defined.
How can I increase the memory capacity of Common TeX without getting too
inefficient?
Also, Common TeX sometimes seems to run out of memory (it has been given
65536 32-bit words of main memory) when TeX (the Pascal version) can
keep going strong (and it only has 60000 32-bit words of main memory).
I'm sure I'm doing something stupid....but I can't think what?
One other question:
Has anyone added the jump to editor option to Common TeX? If so
could you let me know as I tried what I thought was reasonable and
it doesn't work.......the problem being how to find the name of the
current input file (I keep getting a file called hfill!).
