Does anyone know to get hold of common tex sources without using anonymous ftp (we are not on arpa) or paying for a complete release of tex. We already are running a current version of tex and would like to have someone either mail (preferably) or swap tapes. Can someone tell me where to get common tex. I looked on ucbvax and ctex.tar seems to be gone. Thanks... -- Sheldon Laube, The Consumer Financial Institute, Waltham, MA 617-899-6500 {decvax!yale|allegra|ihnp4|ucbvax!cbosgd}!ima!cfisun!shel shel@CFI.COM

Does anyone out there know what changes are necessary to CommonTeX to get it to run on a machine with 16-bit int's?? Is the author still around? I tried calling the number in the README file but it is disconnected. The operator tells me there is no listing in any of the areas around Palo Alto for him. PLEASE do not tell me to make sure BIG and BIGG are undefined!! That is the _first_ step. There are assignments everywhere where a long constant is placed into 'int'-sized variables. One problem occurs while compiling for initex. sort_avail sends get_node 0x4000000, and get_node treats that very specially. But if one runs the executable compiled with no changes, get_node actually gets a 0x4000 (on my compiler anyways) and that fails the 0x4000 == 0x4000000 test!! Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Greg Onufer Univ of the Pacific Sun Lab Admin exodus@uop.edu ucdavis!uop!exodus -or- cogent!uop!exodus
