Can anyone out there help me? I'm using LaTeX to write my term paper. Everything works fine, except one thing. I cannot write out phonetic symbols. What shall I do? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Chan-Do Lee Dept. of Computer Science Indiana University Bloomington, IN 47401 cdlee@iuvax.cs.indiana.edu

Some people suggested me to design my own symbols using METAFONT. Has anybody made IPA symbols? Any help will be greatly appreciated. > I'm using LaTeX to write my term paper. > I cannot write out phonetic symbols. Apart from the obvious suggestion about faking them with overstrikes, I just had a GREAT IDEA! A lot of phonetic symbols are inverted letters--the best known example is the "schwa," or inverted "e". So just specify an "e" in 10-point Roman--at magnification minus-one! I wish everything in TeX was so easy. O |-) -- Col. G. L. Sicherman ...!ihnp4!odyssey!gls
