I really need help getting texx to work. We have a lot of TeX-Hackers around who don't want to switch to X11 because they have no previewer. I have installed texx without major problems. I can start it, the window comes up, the mouse-cursor changes, all looks very busy, but nothing happens on the window. I surely made a mistake, but .... [ I try to answer it by mail but it fails ] In article <583@gmdzi.UUCP> you write: >I really need help getting texx to work. Let me guess the machines you have. 1) You have a SUN working station running X11 2) You compile and execute texx on a VAX The problem is the program has a machine dependent #ifdef. When the program is compiled on a VAX, the SUN option is not turned on. You should re-compile texx with USE_SUN defined. Then texx should work for a SUN but not on other workstations! I am still looking for a nice solution. You should also get the lastest version of texx on a.cs.uiuc.edu in the directory pub/TeX. I contacted the author (grunwald@m.cs.uiuc.edu) about this (actually it is the author who suggested the solution). He said he will try to find a better solution during this summer. I hope this will help. --Conrad internet: kwok@iris.ucdavis.edu csnet: kwok@ucd.csnet csnet: kwok%iris.ucdavis.edu@csnet.relay uucp: {ucbvax, uunet, ... }!ucdavis!iris!kwok
