[comp.text] Graphs in LaTeX?

I am looking for an easy way to include plots of experimental data in LaTeX
documents.

I am running on a Sun 3 under X10. My present method of including graphs
is as follows:

	1. Graph data using xgraph
	2. Convert X window to a postscript file using xwd and xps
	3. Insert the ps file in LaTeX with the \special command
        4. Print with dvi2ps and lpr

I've come across a few problems with this method:

	1. xps scales the graphs in integer steps (I've solved this by
doing a little hack of the xps source)

	2. xps positions the graph to a specific spot on the page --
NOT relative to the current ouput position of LaTeX.

	3. The options for the \special command (described in the
dvi2ps man page) don't seem to work (i.e. offsets & scales).

Has anyone found a way for xps and the \special command to communicate?

What does communicate with the \special command?

I've looked at the postscipt output of dvi2ps and it seems that there
should be a way to hack up xps a little more to accept the \special options
-- but I don't want to do that if it has already been done or if there is
another easier way around the problem.
