I'm looking for desktop publishing software for the Sun, or even simpler, something like MacDraw/MacPaint/MacWrite or MS Word combo on Mac. My understanding is that packages like troff and tex don't support drawings (either object-oriented like MacDraw, which I prefer, or bitmap, like MacPaint) or cutting and pasting such drawings. The only alternatives I'm aware of are the very fancy, very expensive high-end packages like Interleaf, Frame, and DocuPro. Any others? Any simple, cheap Mac-like ones?

Eroff is an enhanced version of Troff which supports the inclusion of bitmap images in these formats: MacPaint, TIFF, SUN, Paintbrush. Eroff also includes a previewer so you can view your output on a SUN. - -- Ken Greer Elan Computer Group, Inc. {ames, hplabs, uunet}!elan!kg 415-322-2450

A PD drawing program called fig for Suns lets you draw diagrams using the mouse. These diagrams can be included in your troff documents and viewed with the PD program tseetool. I suspect Eroff's stuff is better than PD packages, but PD stuff _does_ exist. Cheers, -Mitch -- -Mitchell F.
