[comp.text] *roff & Adobe Illustrator

arunc@uxe.cso.uiuc.edu (11/24/88)

I've been using EROFF for the past two years, and it provides excellent
results with text. We would like to upgrade our graphics capability,
as the graphics that we have now look a little ``cartoonish'' and do not
match the level of professionalism that EROFF provides with the text.

In our manuals, we include drawings, screen dumps, etc.
I have been told that Adobe Illustrator 88 is the best graphics
package around (a book publishing firm in town uses it, and I spoke with
one of their tech people).

I've also found out that Adobe will be coming out with a PC-compatible
version of the Illustrator 88 in December or January.

Three questions:

	1) Has anyone used Adobe Illustrator 88 with EROFF, or any of the
*roff languages, and if so, what were the good and bad
points of working with the two packages together?

	2) Does Adobe Illustrator 88 have a facility for capturing
what's on the screen and saving it to a file for later
	   editing?

	3) What are the OPTIMAL equipment requirements for Adobe
Illustrator 88 (eg, color monitor, VGA, memory requirements
	   for computer and printer, etc.)?

Thanks for the help,
