The standard TeX distribution for most machines should include the programs that come under the rubric `METAFONTware', including PKtoGF. A PXtoGF that works only for UNix, based on one that worked on Tops-20, is in the Unix distribution, I think, or I can mail it if you need it. PXtoGF is not part of MFware. The \hsize and \vsize defined in plain.tex have nothing to do with the DVI point (0,0) being one inch from the top and the left of the page. It is the DVI driver that decides where (0,0) is, and an edict issued on TeXhax several years ago by David Fuchs, I believe, said that DVI drivers should all place (0,0) 1" from the top and left. Yet another thing for a hypothetical DVI driver acceptance test to check for. Karl. karl@umb.edu
