Help! I just got started with TeX and I need some help with a quick project. I have Donald Knuth's TeX Book, but it is the only source I currently have. I haven't received my TUG info yet, so I'm not aware of some other sources of help. Here is my simple (probably to any regular user of TeX) problem. I want to format a document like this: ------------------------------top-of-paper----------------------------------- /\ || 1" of space between the top of the paper and the header \/ This is a header line that appears on the top of every page. Although, it is actually two lines of centered header. /\ || 1/2" of space between the header and the text for EVERY page \/ Every paragraph begins flush with the left, no indentation. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. This is a My paragraph begins here, but as you notice there is a small note note to the left of the paragraph. This paragraph, like on the left all of them, are not indented. Mares eat oats and goats side eat oats, but little lambs eat Ivy -- a kid'l eat ivy too; wouldn't you? Disco Duck My paragraph begins here, but as you notice there is a note to the left of the paragraph. This paragraph, like all of them, are not indented. Mares eat oats and goats eat oats, but little lambs eat Ivy -- a kid'l eat ivy too; wouldn't you? 1) This paragraph is numbered automatically and it starts in the same left margin as the first paragraph, however, the text conitinues offset with the first character of the paragraph. Subsequent paragraphs are also indented equally with the numbered paragraph. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. Yet another paragraph.... 2) This is yet another automatically numbered paragraph. It continues the same way as the others. This paragraph starts back to where the first one's left margin was set. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Thank you, in advance, for assisting me with this little emergency of mine! /\ || 1/4" of space between the BOTTOM of the TEXT and the footer \/ unless the bottom of the text ends before the normal bottom. -- This is the footer -- /\ || 1" of space between the BOTTOM of the PAGE and the footer \/ ------------------------------bottom-of-paper-------------------------------- I have many other TeX questions, but I will read the TUG material when it arrives -- I generally like to answer my own questions, I learn so much by doing it that way. Thank you. -- Ken Waletzki (213) 594-9917
