We have received a version of awkcc from ATT. Unfortunately we haven't received any man pages or instructions on how to use it. I need to know all aspects of how to use it such as arguments passed to it, how to set up the awk.s program and anything else that would be enlightening about the program. Huh, what? I just woke up - what's 'awkcc?' Is it an awk code compiler? How frightening - all those Ray Swartz databases compiled in all those middle managers' home directories. I need This Toolchest product should have been delivered in multiple directories: "src" with source code, and "fmt" and/or "unfmt" for formatted or unformatted documentation, in this case there is a man page and a tutorial document. To reach the UNIX (R) System Toolchest in the U.S.A. phone 201-522-6900 (1200 baud) and login as guest. Awkcc is a preprocessor that translates awk code into C, which is subsequently compiled using cc. This tool can multiply the speed of many awk scripts, and increases of a factor between 2 and 6 are common. Since awkcc uses C as its target language, the package is easily ported to any UNIX system environment, and has been used on a range of machines and operating systems including System V, BSD4.3, and Sun 3.2. It is available from the UNIX System Toolchest. To skip details of how to contact the Toolchest press N now The Toolchest may be reached in the U.S.A. on 201-522-6900 (1200 baud) login as guest.
