I am looking for a text formatter for a PC. I am very fond of Scribe, which runs on vaxen and other, larger-than-PC machines. I have heard rumors of a Scribe clone called Final Word that is supposed to run on PCs. Anybody have any experience with it, or know who puts it out? Is it a popular program, beloved by thousands, and I just never heard about it? thanks, Allan internet: aterry@teknowledge.com uucp: {uunet|sun|ucbvax|decwrl|uw-beaver}!aterry%teknowledge.com US Mule: Teknowledge Inc, 1850 Embarcadero Rd, POB 10119, Palo Alto, CA 94303 Old Russian proverb: "He who invokes the law grasps a wolf by the ears"

Borland's SPRINT wp package is based on FinalWord II; the formatter (which
can be used separately) is very FinalWord-like, and I think fairly Scribe-
like but I'm not much of a real-Scribe expert. Since Borland bought the
rights for this, I assume FinalWord itself is no longer directly available,
but it may be. You might prefer Sprint anyway.
There was also supposed to be a MicroScribe from the MicroEmacs factory
in beta this summer, but I think it's delayed.
