There's a Portland band named Pell Mell. If you can, go see
them. If you can't, buy their record ("Rhyming Guitars", indoor records
in001).
What they sound like: mix some Ventures (all instrumentals),
some Tom Tom Club (great dance rythms), some jazz (but it's not
arty-farty, it's fun). Modern non-electronic polyrythmic pop. If it
doesn't make you twitch, you were dead yesterday (no offense meant -
even dead people can have fun in their own mellow fashion).
