I'm interested in finding out about what backup devices (streamer tape? 9-track tape? other?) might be available for a UNIX system. We're thinking of acquiring a Perkin-Elmer 3220 mini, and the tape drive that P-E is offering is a little expensive. I would want backups to be simple and inexpensive (i.e., not a $500 disk pack for every backup), but speed probably doesn't matter, so a 9600-baud RS-232 link might do fine. (That would also avoid any problems with controllers, drivers, interfacing, etc.) I do want to be able to get a reasonably volume of data on any one backup, so floppies are out. Thanks for any leads. I'll summarize to the net. Dave Sherman The Law Society of Upper Canada Toronto -- {allegra,cornell,decvax,ihnp4,linus,utzoo}!utcsrgv!dave
