How do you create bigtex using the web2c stuff? Currently running on SunOS 4.0.1, Sun3 and Sun4. I can't find the release of the TeX82 stuff.... I have everything created, but I noticed that texsun blows off if it can't find a font. It doesn't seem to rescale. Does anyone have fixes? When I try and use the cmfonts gfxxx.makeall to create the missing gf fonts it doesn't output them properly: cmtt10.518gf outputs as 346gf cmcsc10.432gf outputs as 288gf cmcsc10.360gf outputs as 240gf cmcsc10.328gf outputs as 219gf The files I am trying to 'texsun' are the texinfo files from GNU. Anybody got any ideas? alternate path: uunet!apctrc!tank -tank- #include <std/disclaimer.h> /* nobody knows the trouble I .... */

texsun scales fonts by integral ``shrinks''. This is equiv. to scaling by 500, 333, 250, 125, etc. If your document asks for cmr10.300pk, it'll display this font in a variety of different sizes for you (the shrinks). What it won't do is scaled cmr10.600 down when you need cmr10.300 & don't have it. I notice that the version of texsun with the TeX distribution is waaaay out of date. Shortly, I'll post the location of an updated TeXsun that also handles the sun-386i, once my erstwhile beta-tester reports back. -- Dirk Grunwald Univ. of Illinois grunwald@flute.cs.uiuc.edu

In article <752@apctrc.UUCP>: | |How do you create bigtex using the web2c stuff? A more capacious tex? There should be a file called BIGTEX.PATCH that you feed into patch to modify ctex.ch. Instructions are all in the distribution.
