the following attempt was to have something that looked like: { a } { a' } blah blah blah ... { b } or { b' } { c } { c' } unfortunately what i got was: blah blah blah ... { a } { b } { c } or { a' } { b' } { c' } any ideas on how to fix that? thanks gill \begin{enumerate} \item[$F_{3}$.\ ] If $\zeta \in P_{CN}$ and $\phi \in P_{t}$, then $F_{3}(\zeta,\phi) = \zeta$ {\bf such that} $\phi^{m}$, where $\phi^{m}$ comes from $\phi$ by replacing each occurance of {\bf $he_{n}$} or {\bf $him_{n}$} by \[ \left\{ \begin{array}{l} {\bf he} \\ {\bf she} \\ {\bf it} \end{array} \right\} \] or \[ \left\{ \begin{array}{l} {\bf him} \\ {\bf her} \\ {\bf it} \end{array} \right\} \] respectively, according as the first $B_{CN}$ in $\zeta$ is of \[ \left\{ \begin{array}{l} masc. \\ fem. \\ neuter \end{array} \right\} \] gender. \end{enumerate}
