Has anyone out there used downloadable Adobe fonts with troff? I am using SoftQuad troff and have several MS-DOS format Adobe fonts available for use. The binary fonts that come with the Adobe distribution are not in the proper format. I know from talking to SoftQuad that they have to be converted before they are downloaded. Does anyone have the programs/tools for doing this? SoftQuad has the tools to generate the width tables and so forth for troff, so I don't need any help on that end. I just need to be able to download the fonts so I can begin building the width tables. Mark T. Yes. It may be somewhat involved, depending on which Troff are using.
Since I see from our records that you are an EROFF user, you can use
the "psdl" facility of EROFF. Chapter 2 talks about using the "afmwidth"
command to automatically generate the Troff font metric files.
We have successfully downloaded lots of PostScript fonts with EROFF.
