[comp.text] Getting Shaded Boxes In

karl@grebyn.COM (Karl Nyberg) (06/04/89)

Is it possible to get a shaded box in TeX/LaTeX? That is, one where the
background is gray rather than white? This is to be printed out after
conversion from dvi to postscript on an Apple Laser Writer if that helps any.

Yes, if you use the EEPIC graphics macro package. EEPIC is an extension
to EPIC which uses nonstandard DVI commands for graphics. To use it,
you must load EPIC (available from the Clarkson archive) and then load
EEPIC (available from clover.ucdavis.edu and perhaps also from Clarkson).

You must get a DVI-to-PS converter which supports "tpic specials", the graphics
commands used by EEPIC. A version of dvips which has such support was recently
announced in this newgroup, I believe.
