[comp.text] METAFONT for MSDOS?

hnzst@unix.cis.pittsburgh.edu (Hong N. Zhang) (06/03/89)

Is there a PC version of METAFONT? I wrote a Turbo Pascal change file for
GFtoPK and it works, but I don't have time to do the same thing for MF.

Your info is greatly appreciated.

Yes, there is a PC version METAFONT for sale from Personal TeX
Incoporaated. I own a copy and it works OK.

   Personal TeX Inc.
   12 Madrona Avenue
   Mill Valley, CA 94941

It costs less than $200.00

In addition to pcMF (Personal TeX, $195) there are a few other MF's for
MS-DOS. TurboMF is distributed with TurboTeX (Kinch Computer Company,
$150 executables only, $300 executables + source). There is also DosMF
which can be obtained from the author for $75 (with DosTeX) this includes
DosTeX, the whole mess may be freely distributed and is also available
(I think) for anonymous FTP from wsmr-simtel20.army.mil and for
a distribution fee from Jon Radel ($10.50 if you supply 5.25" floppies,
$35 if he supplies the floppies) Gary Beihl, the autho may be reached at
    Electronetics, Inc.

Jon Radel's address is
    Jon Radel
    P.O. Box 2276
    Reston, VA 22090
While I'm doing addresses, Kinch Computer Company is
    501 S. Meadow Street
    Ithaca NY 14850
and Personal TeX is
    12 Madrona Avenue
    Mill Valley CA 94941
But wait, there's more. ScripTeK offers a complete PC typesetting system
(TeX, MF, previewer, HPLJ driver, IBM graphics printer driver, and CM fonts
for $125.

Their MF may be DosMF, I don't know.

Yes there is. There is a company called Kinch selling TurboTeX and Metafont
for PCs.
