I am relatively new at the LaTeX system. There is a lot of stuff on the net about TeX and LaTeX, but I don't remember seeing a revealed source for Helvetica fonts. Has anyone seen or heard of or even built a set of Helvetica fonts? Someone has come to me with a need so I am making this appeal. Any suggestions about how to get smarter about finding them, or input as to how much work it would be to put them together would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Rich

If you have a PostScript printer you can use the resident Helvetica fonts. First ftp anonymous to rtsg.ee.lbl.gov and get the file dvi2ps.tar.Z. Extract it and save the directories Styles and afm2tfm. You don't need the rest. In particular don't use its dvi to PostScript converter, there's a much better one called dvips. To get it ftp anonymous to labrea.stanford.edu and cd to the pub directory and get the most recent dvips file; it may be a .tar.Z file or a .shar.Z file or whatever. At the moment I think it's dvips.34.tar.Z. Extract it and make dvips and install it. Then copy all of the .sty files from the Styles directory into your TEXINPUTS directory. Then go into the directory afm2tfm/tfm and copy all of the .tfm files into the directory where your .tfm files are kept. If there aren't any .tfm files in afm2tfm/tfm then go into that directory and say "make" and it will make them.
