[comp.text] TeX trip test problems

schell@iris.ucdavis.edu (Stephan Schell) (08/27/89)

Thank you to all who responded to my earlier question. Unfortunately,
I am still having a real problem with the trip test for TeX. I am running
on an HP 9000/835 with HP-UX 3.0. My site.h has SYSV defined. I think
I am following the instructions in the README files. Everything compiles
fine. By the way, I installed this distribution on a VAX running Ultrix,
and IT passes the trip test. The web2c results (itex.c, tex?.c, etc.)
differ only in the data types assigned to many variables (e.g., poolpointer
instead of long, quarterword instead of long, etc.). Everything seems fine
on the HP until I run the trip test. The output diverges almost immediately
from the expected output, and soon after a bus error causes a core dump.

Below are my tripin.log (triptex < Unix_tripin1) and the SAVEtripin.log
that it is supposed to match. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
