Does anyone have or know anything more about the new HP
ink-jet printer which just came out last month? The only
thing I know about it is what I read in the review in BYTE
a couple of months ago. They liked it, (especially for $500)
but were a little concerned about its performance on normal
stock printer paper. I'd appreciate hearing about anyone's
experiences or even second hand info. Thanks.

I've seen the "Thinkjet" and am impressed. The reservations about special paper apply to all true ink-jet printers; the technique requires a short-fiber paper with high surface absorbancy. BTW, the Olivetti "jet printer" is NOT a true ink-jet-- it transfers dry carbon from a stylus via some kind of controlled arching (spark-jet printing??). One caveat: the "Thinkjet" will not be available with an RS-232 serial interface until later in the year, maybe even next year. This is direct from a HP salesperson. Chip
