/* ---------- "Is nroff part of UNIX package?" ---------- */
On our SYS V Rel 2 UNIX, we had nroff/troff
Now, on Release 3, we do not have it. OUr vendor says that it really
wasn't part of UNIX, that it was part of Documentor's Workbench, and that we'd
gotten a freebie before that they don't have to give now.
Is this for Real???
Please mail

Yes. Nroff, Troff, and their related processors TBL, etc.
were "unbundled" from UNIX with System V release 1.
It's an extra cost item now... However, even the DWB kit from AT&T doesn't
support modern laser printers. Laser support is offered
primarily by third party vendors, whom we are one.

The ATT licensing people we dealt with said the Documentors' Workbench
was bundled with System V release 2, but unbundled with System V
release 3. I think that's why you got it with rel 2 but not rel 3.
You might check your licensing carefully. Often, rel 3 licenses
include provisions that let you run software from all previous
releases. So if you still have a copy of DWB from rel 2 you may be
able to use it on all your rel 3 systems.
