[comp.text] Printing MuTeX scores

barrett@jhunix.HCF.JHU.EDU (Dan Barrett) (09/22/89)

I have been using MuTeX for printing music using TeX, and I
have discovered a problem. Namely, the 2 example scores do not
print correctly on our DEC LN03+ and our Postscript Printer. However,
they do print correctly on our Imagen
Therefore, I blame the dvi2ps and ln03dvi programs that convert
from DVI-->Postscript and DVI-->ln03, respectively.

We are running TeX 2.95 that we got from uunet.uu.net. ln03dvi
comes from that distribution, and dvi2ps is really w_dvi2ps from
cs.washington.edu.

The symptoms: The Postscript printer does not print any
note heads, but everything else appears normally.
The LN03 prints some garbage sometimes instead of slurs and beams.
For example, measures 4 and 19 of the example "bach.tex" have only the first
2 eighth notes beamed together, instead of all six. Also, in "distler.tex",
the second-last measure should have a slur over it. It has garbage instead.

Our X-windows previewer, xdvi, displays both scores perfectly,
and our Imagen prints them perfectly.

	Anyone else having these problems?

                                                        Dan
