[comp.text] HP Laserjet II dvi driver

samperi@marob.masa.com (Dominick Samperi) (09/28/89)

I tried to use Beebe's dvijep and dvijet to process dvi files for
a laserjet series II, without success. The dvijep output results in
garbage output, while dvijet output results in strange output due to
its using fonts of the wrong size. I was able to keep dvijet from
complaining about missing fonts by using dvijet -m1500 file, but
then I generated a huge file. Any driver suggestions for this
printer? Thanks!

I've had no success with the dvijet / Laserjet II combo. I did get dvijep
to work well, and was quite a ways toward finishing dvilj2, which relaxed
many of the constraints not imposed by the Laserjet II. About 60% through,
Beebe released a new set of drivers, which were quite different from the
base I was working on. Not knowing whether to trudge on or switch to the
new release, I quit. The driver works well for me, though. This was on
a BSD4.2-wanna-be (Apollo running Aegis).

Hi,

I have a version of dvi2hp avaiable for anonymous ftp. It generates
decent output.

The address is 129.137.32.106.

I have used Beebe's DVIJEP driver for a few months, and I am extremely
pleased with it. It is blazingly fast, creates relatively small *.jep
files, and has many command line switches which make it very flexible.

You will have to be more specific than just saying "garbage output", but
I suspect that either a) you are not using the right fonts, or b) you
are not copying the file to the printer properly (i.e. copy/b %1.jep lpt1:).
Hope this is of use to you. Keep trying. If you have any specific questions
regarding my configuration, please e-mail me.
