[comp.text] Bug in JB Wang's version of dvi2ps?

sridhar@usceast.UUCP (M. A. Sridhar) (10/06/89)

The version of dvi2ps modified by JB Wang seems to have a peculiar bug. (This
is the version that appears as w_dvi2ps in pub/tex on june.cs.washington.edu.)
On some occasions (not always), there is a noticeable gap between a name and
its subscript; i.e., $x_i$ produces

			     x
				   i

rather than
			     x
			      i

I know that this is a bug in that version of dvi2ps because when I replaced the
executable with the old version (the one that came with the Washington TeX
distribution) on the *same dvi file*, the problem went away.

I also ftp'ed (on Oct 4th) the version of dvi2ps in /tmp on
june.cs.washington.edu. This version also suffers the same problem.

I really like the idea of continuously scalable fonts offered by this version
of dvi2ps, but this bug makes it unusable. Has this been fixed? Can someone
throw some light on this?

Thanks in advance.
