I've received responses asking me to summarize the responses I've received, so here it is: Very many people recommended SBTeX (available from simtel20.army.mil's PD1:<MSDOS.TEX> directory., o from venus.ycc.yale.edu via anonymous FTP) One person recommended PC-TeX, and u-TeX as "major league TeX's", and stated that Turbo-TeX was a good cheap one. DOSTeX 2.93a was said to be VERY inferior to SBTeX.
