[comp.text] tex capacity exceeded ?

mikew@wheeler.wrcr.unr.edu (Mike Whitbeck) (10/26/89)

When using PiCTeX or Fig-fs with LaTeX I sometimes get

"tex capacity exceeded"

sometimes (depending on which computer/hence version of tex
used) this is followed by "see guru to fix".

Well don't have a guru handy (there are only 4 tex users at my
site). I gather TeX needs to be recompiled with some
parameter(s) made larger.

Advice ? parameter name = ? value = ?

Thanks in advance (trusting aren't I!).

Any simple problem can be made insoluble if enough committee

I'm not sure if this applies to your case, but the only cause I have seen
for that complaint is a TeX/LaTeX file with no line feeds. My version of
TeX is running on an IBM/AT compatible under PCDOS 3.30. TeX files downloaded
from Unix hosts frequently produce this error until I run them throughh
something which adds line feeds to all CRs in the file.

Hope this helps,
