From article <583@gmuvax2.gmu.edu>, by rauletta@gmuvax2.gmu.edu (Richard J. Auletta): > > I use pic, xfig, idraw (a macdraw for X11) and postscript to > create the figures I need. Where can I obtain xfig and idraw, and are there any other candidate programs out there? Thanks, Tom Gordon -- Thomas F. Where can I obtain xfig and idraw, and are there >any other candidate programs out there? > Xfig comes with the R3 distribution but I think there are patches (Level 6) so pulling it off of one of the X11 archieves with patches would be wise. Can someone help with the exact locations (expo.mit.edu and where in europe)? Xfig crashes once in a while, especially when entering text, sometimes with floating point exceptions, but even still (with frequent saves) its the best I seen (compared to say cip.) With Xfig you want to get the transfig set of programs for converting from fig to pic, latex, ps, etc. I have a fixed version of the fig to pic converter that correctly handles arrow heads. Idraw is part of Interviews toolkit, it can be had from interviews.stanford.edu, and idraw is available in binary which makes things easier (don't need the toolkit). It is impressive, very Mac like, nice! Hope this helps (and is reasonably accurate!) --R J Auletta
