[comp.text] Looking for editor's text editor

anita@hpausla.aso.hp.com (Anita Giddings) (11/30/89)

I have a friend who is looking for what one might call "an
editor's text editor". She has no details about what it might
be called, or who sells the product. Perhaps someone could
help us identify the product, if it exists.

The product can be used by editors at remote sites to mark up
electronic copies of documents in a similar way to the way an
editor marks up a printed copy of a document. For example,
the editor can indicate to the writer where words should be
replaced, deleted, where the order of words or phrases should
be reversed, and so on. The important thing is that the
editor's suggested changes are not made "to" the text, just
indicated "on" or "around" the text.

The product is likely to exist on a PC.

I hope someone can help us locate such a product.

Thanks,

Anita Giddings
