I just FTP'd a copy of fig-fs 1.4 and transfig from svax.cs.cornell.edu and the documentation mentions the existence of EPIC and PiCTeX. I am already familiar with PiCTeX, but I frequently run out of memory on my Sun while using it. The situation is even worse on my AT compatible with PC-TeX. I am curious about EPIC and whether or not it could be intermediate in power between LaTeX's picture environment and PiCTeX. The transfig manual mentions that EPIC is available from cayuga.cs.rochester.edu but I just looked and found nothing. I also looked at about 5 or 6 other sites usually well-supplied in TeX stuff and found nothing. Is EPIC still available for FTP from anywhere? Thanks very much in advance for any pointers. Francois '
