[comp.text] Trouble with PTIPS using PostScript fonts

louarn@fjord.irisa.fr (Philippe Louarn) (12/18/89)

A friend of mine, who doesn't have access to the net, use
Personnal TeX Inc.' version of MLTeX (Multi-lingual TeX) on a PC.

When he use cm fonts, he's got no problem...
BUT when he want to used adobe fonts (eg. Times or Helvetica), he cannot
used french diacritic symbols (eg accute, grave or cedilla).

I tryed 2 solutions : 1. reencode the PS fonts (eg. accute in code '023)
                      2. re-generate lplain.fmt with accents in PS positions
                         (eg : \def\'#1{{\accent'302 #1}})
In both case, tfm files are OK.

But both does'nt work :
The PS driver (named ptips) always generate a bad code for accent (\377)
instead of what we hoped (\023 in case 1, and \302 in case 2)

Does anybody on the net have the solution ?
(NB : we don't have source of ptips)

Please mail direct to me.

Thanks in advance
