Does anyone have information on the care and feeding of the output of the eqn and tbl preprocessors. I would like to write my own versions of EQ and EN as well as TS and TE. I have some preliminary versions working, but there are some things I do not understand. Particulary, I am trying to figure out how mark and lineup from eqn are implemented. I am inspecting the EQ and EN macros provided with ms. These refer to an EP register. However, this register never seems to be set in either ms or the output of EQN. It is obvious however, that if the MK register, set by the output of eqn, is not zero, that something is happening in reference to mark-lineup. What precisely do these preprocessors assume that the macro package is doing for them? This information is not available in the eqn or tbl documentation?
