I am designing a front page for our internal report style. This front page looks like a form of fixed size with frames for authors, title, report number, distribution, summary, etc. I've got most of it done using the tabular environment and modifications to the 'report' style but I have problems with the following: 1. Is it possible to change the \oddsidemargin and \textwidth for the first page (the front page) of the document while keeping the standard values for the rest of it? I would like to keep the front page in the same job as the rest of the document to use the same \author, \title, \abstract as the document itself. 2. In the tabular environment, can I typeset something in a space of fixed width AND number of lines; the p{wd} column spec specifies the width, but I don't know how to set the number of lines in the 'boxes' of my form. For example, if there is space for 4 authors, but there is only one author, how can I notice this and leave 3 blank lines. Can I use the TeX engine to typeset the author in memory and infer the number of lines used from the size of that box in memory? 3. Am I using the wrong tools? Should I construct this form out of \hboxes, \vboxes, and \rules?
