I am in the process of (re)installing TeX on several of our local
systems. We have been using several different previewers on Sun
Workstations; since I am basically starting over, I would like to get
the latest versions of these programs.
Most of them I have FTPed from various sites like Labrea, UW, and
uunet. However, I know that the files at these sites are always the
latest and greatest versions. Some of the programs also have several
patches that need to be applied....
So, could you send me EMAIL about the "official" locations of the
following programs? I will post a summary..... Also any info on
previewers for the Sun which I haven't listed below.
xdvi X previewer
texx (texx2) X previewer
dvipage SunView previewer
texsun SunView previewer
Also, anybody have any word on when UNIX TeX 3.0 will be available?
Someone told me before Christmas that is was being worked on and would
be a matter of weeks. I was also told that I could do it myself with
the new WEB files and web2c, but that is a bit more complicated than
just typing 'make all' (not that I couldn't do that, but I don't have
the time, esp. if others who know much more than I do about this
have already started...)
Thanks,
Dan

you can pick up the last version of texx2 (now called xtex), texsun and the aging texx from the tar file expo.lcs.mit.edu:contrib/SeeTeX.tar.Z or, if that's not available foobar.colorado.edu:pub/SeeTex.tar.Z
