Many personal computers have a Centronics parallel port. Two questions : 1- They all seem to call it "a standard parallel port" instead of "a Centronics port". Are they identical, and this is just some sort of trademark game ? 2- Are 99 percent of all Centronics-port printers compatible to the extent that I can send a typical ASCII text file out through the port and have it printed correctly ? I have heard that some (many ?) printers use some handshaking that causes problems. Are most able to handle standard printable ASCII characters plus CR and LF ? How about FF and BS ?
