I am trying to install bibtex (C version 0.99c) on a DecStation 3100 running Ultrix 3.1. It seems to build and run fine except for finding *.bib files. The bibtex.ch file suggests that it will accomodate searching for files in a path and the site.h file defines BIBINPUTS as the path for *.bib files. Finally, the documentation suggests the environment variable TEXBIB: as the path. The problem is that I cannot get bibtex to recognize *.bib files in any location other than the current directory.
