[comp.text] Interleaf/Context/Scribe formats question

nathan@electro.UUCP (Nathan Konrad) (03/21/90)

Can anyone tell me anything about storage formats used by Interleaf,
Context or Scribe? What I am really interested in is the possibility
of extracting the text and/or diagram information from the files for
inclusion in troff documents.

Even more specifically, I am looking into using a structured analysis tool
for future design projects. The package I am looking at right now manages
the production of data flow diagrams, structure charts, a data dictionary,
etc. and can produce a skeleton document with this information,
in any of the above formats. The idea is to finish up the document
using the corresponding publishing package. We currently document using
troff so it would be nice to be able to import the above information into
troff documents.

One further comment: I am familiar with Interleaf, and know that it is
beyond our budget and requirements. However, I know virtually nothing about
Context and Scribe so any background to either of them would be helpful. I
suppose, if they are lower cost alternatives to Interleaf, we could switch.
Any input would be appreciated!
