[comp.text] "Envisioning Information" by Edward Tufte

I just bought the new book by Edward R. Tufte "Envisioning Information"
and it looks as good as his other classic "The Visual Display of
Quantitative Information." The first few sentences of the Introduction
are:

The world is complex, dynamic, multidimensional; the paper is
static, flat. How are we to represent the rich visual world of
experience and measurement on mere flatland? This book celebrates
escapes from flatland, rendering several hundred superb displays
of complex data. Revealed here are design strategies for
enhancing the dimensionality and density of portrayals of
information ... Our investigation yields general principles
that have specific visual consequences, governing the design,
editing, analysis, and critique of data representations."

The colophon says it was typeset in Monotype Bembo, which I find
easy to read (much nicer than the standard Times Roman).

I ordered mine directly from the publisher (Graphics Press,
+1 203 272 9187) and it cost $48 (no charge for shipping).
