[comp.text] Alternatives to mm?

vjfrieen@maytag.waterloo.edu (Verna Friesen) (12/15/90)

I am having a little trouble adapting to a new University where
their text processing is not quite what I am used to. I use troff,
and prefer the "mm" macro package because of its automatic numbering
capabilities, table of contents generation, and other things like that.
The "mm" macro package is not supported here. There is an old version
that doesn't appear to be compatible with "ditroff", and I'm not fluent
enough in troff to fix it.

	1) Is there a legal way of getting a version that works? If so,
where could I find such a version?

	2) Has someone out there written some helpful macros that do
the above-mentioned tasks so that I don't have to reinvent them?!
The package they use here is "ms", and I can't seem to find anyone
that has written what I need.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Please reply by e-mail.
