Does anybody have machine readable information about the widths of the characters in each of the HPLJ III's built-in fonts? I'd like to build up some troff width tables for it to distribute with psroff, but I don't have an HPLJ III handy for trial-and-error manual tweaking or any documentation. (If the information turns out to require the outlay of some money, since I don't have, nor am ever likely to have an HPLJ III, nor do I make any money from psroff, HPLJ III users desiring psroff widths would probably have to pool their pennies to buy the info for me - I'd throw in the labour free). Ideally, these widths would be the "deltax" (aka horizontal escapement) from the origin of each character to the origin of the next. I need the width for each character (to be precise, the width of each character that CAT troff uses) in each font, but only at one size. 1/720's at 10 point type size would be an ideal scale, but I think I could handle just about anything. ASCII numbers would be best. Ditroff width tables would be perfect (if I'm allowed to redistribute them). Psroff apparently works great with HPLJ III's, except for not having appropriate width tables. I've not seen any samples, so I don't know how far off the widths I supply are. -- Chris Lewis, Phone: (613) 832-0541 UUCP: uunet!utai!lsuc!ecicrl!clewis Moderator of the Ferret Mailing List (ferret-request@eci386) Psroff mailing list (psroff-request@eci386)
