[net.periphs] Is there a UDA50 and RA81 disk dirver for Unix System V?

andy@cai.UUCP (andy) (02/14/85)

Hi,

Has anybody written a UDA50/RA81 disk driver for Unix
System V if so what is its availability?

				Thanks,

Yup, DEC's Holmdel office ( (201) 946-9403 ) has written one that works for
both for System V and System VR2. As released, however, it only supports the
UDA50 controller on its own UNIBUS. It is possible to boot a system configured
for the UDA50 on the same Unibus as the other periphs., but due to the
Unibus mapping problem (uh... I mean feature), the kernal cannot be very
large and DEC will not support this configuration. Call 'em for more info.

I believe the object code costs about $ 2.5K.

Cheers!

I have one that is almost debugged. It is currently for SV.R1.V1.
When I get out the "just one more bug", it will be available gratis
(with keep-this-copyright-notice constraints). The system will then
go to SV.R2.V1, and I will work on any differences needed for that
and for multi-UNIBUS(R) configurations.

(... i have a driver. for a dirver, go to the next tent ... ;-))
