My graduate students are addicted to Framemaker, and I to UNIX/troff. If there are tools to automate the translation between the two, I would appreciate knowing about them. David Wheeler, wheeler@ida.org, has partially solved the troff -> Framemaker portion with sed+awk scripts, which is useful but not complete. The basic problem is to allow editing of documents with widely available simple editors of text originating in either format on machines using the other format, in this case MACs and UNIX platforms. A Framemaker -> troff filter is the missing piece. Thanks. Prof. Jon R.
