[net.music] Kansas Vocals

bdd (06/18/82)

While recently watching MTV, I learned that Steve Walsh is no
longer with the band Kansas. This came as a shock to me because I am
a big Steve Walsh and Kansas fan (I've seen the last 4 tours) and felt
that Walsh was a major force in the band. The new "Vinyl Confessions"
album is the first one featuring the new lead vocalist Jean LePonte and
he does a commendable job filling (or trying to) Walsh's shoes. His vocal
style is comparable to Walsh's but he doesn't quite have the power Walsh
has in the upper octaves. Although Walsh is not on the album, I feel
that the bands style hasn't changed very much (maybe because of the basic
similarity between Walsh and LePonte) and that "Vinyl Confessions" is
an album worth the Kansas name.
If anyone has any info on Steve Walsh's solo career, album releases
or possible tour dates, please respond to me via mail.
