>The 4.3 boot program knows to >load the file `pcs750.bin' into the 750 patch store. The code to >do this is not terribly large, and is all contained in /sys/stand/boot.c >at your nearest 4.3 site, which also has /pcs750.bin. The pcs750.bin that comes with 4.3BSD is *not necessarily* the right microcode to load on all 750's. If you have been standalone-loading microcode with the DEC diagnostic monitor, that microcode patch is likely to be the right code. Replace pcs750.bin with the DEC microcode. -- Ed Gould mt Xinu, 2560 Ninth St., Berkeley, CA 94710 USA {ucbvax, decvax}!mtxinu!ed +1 415 644 0146 "A man of quality is not threatened by a woman of equality."

By the way, we went through this change over a year ago. We got the changes to the 4.2 boot program from somewhere else (I forgot now) and have made the whole thing (boot code changes and pcs750.bin file) available for anonymous FTP from ics.uci.edu under the name pub/rev7.shar (sh archive file). I never had the time to really look into the situation but it never seemed really obvious how to recreate the pcs750.bin file from the DEC diagnostic tape. I asked the people who provided us the original copy of this file and they didn't know how it was done either (too long ago). Thus, your best bet is probably to get pub/rev7.shar from us and use the pcs750.bin file contained therein. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Richard Johnson raj@ics.uci.edu (Internet) UCI ICS Computing Support Group ucbvax!ucivax!raj (UUCP)
