A UNIX site in New Caledonia is eager to exercise its uucp software and to become part of the "global village". They are desperately seeking a site in the USA that will adopt them. The South Pacific Commission is a scientific installation, which has a Hewlett Packard 9000. My colleague emphasized to me that they are interested in the link just for e-mail purposes -- NOT for downloading tons of info from USENET. In fact, they are limited by a 300 baud link to their earthstation, and would be polling the USA site -- pretty good assurance that the traffic will be low volume! But they WOULD hope for a site that wouldn't mind forwarding their e-mail across USENET. Would anyone be able to help these guys out? Unfortunately I am a communications ignoramus, and am not too sure whether I have all the info that a USA site would want to know before offering a link. They have access to the French TOMPAC network, through which they can get onto Tymenet. So ... I guess they need a willing site that is accessible from Tymenet? If you'd like to tell me what I should know to organize such a network connection, please do! Suggestions about what their ideal setup should be are welcome, too.
