[comp.unix.wizards] 4.3BSD vs. MicroVAX II

nw@vaxine.UUCP (03/24/87)

Three-and-a-half questions regarding 4.3BSD and MicroVAX II:

        1) Do I still need access to a "real" VAX running ULTRIX to
get going, or can I get a bootable distribution on TK50?
1.5) Will a cheap 1600BPI tape drive be any help?
        2) Is there support for RD53 (the 71 MB fixed disk) ?
        3) Anyone out there doing kernel development with the 71MB disk?
How badly will I wish for an RA81? (can you imagine anyone
             wishing for an RA81?)

I'd appreciate any anecdotes you have to share. E-mail would be nice
(even if you post); I don't get to read news very often.

P.S. Priced a UNIX source license lately? Ouch.
