[comp.unix.wizards] ctime patch + recompiled programs...

franco%mikey@adm.UUCP (03/24/87)

Does anyone know if, DEC(for ULTRIX), Berkeley(for BSD's) and or
AT+T(for SYS5), will or does have a patch for the ctime library and
a set of re-compiled programs that we at BBN can install on our systems
before the date is supposed to change on April 5th??????

I'm new to this mailing list and have seen a small part of the
tail end of this discussion. I already know what needs to change in
the ctime.c file, but what I don't have is a complete list of programs
that would need to be re-compiled with the library fix. Is there such
a list??

I would appreciate any help on this subject. I am particularly
interrested in BSD4.2, BSD4.3, ULTRIX 1.2 and ULTRIX 2.0.

Thanks in advance,

With regard to Ultrix, I called DEC Tech. Support. Their answer was:

	- on <the new changeover date> use the 'date' command
to advance the time 1 hour. It will say PST (or whatever)
		instead of PDT (or whatever).
	- on <the old changeover date> use the 'date' command
to set back the time 1 hour. It will then show
		daylight savings time correctly.

In other words, "ctime fix? we don't got no stinking ctime fix!" :-)

Sorry for the verbose message, but we need filler for inews.

Bleah. Doesn't GMT go into inode time fields?
Does this mean that the next release of Ultrix *won't*
have a ctime that knows about the 1987 DST changes?
I know, I know, it's only an hour.
