There will be an intensive, 5-day course on 4.3BSD Unix internals hosted by Purdue University the week of June 1 through June 5. This course is presented by Dr. Thomas W. Doeppner Jr. of Brown University and the Institute for Advanced Professional Studies. The cost of the course is $950 per person for academic institutions, and $1200 per person for industrial and governmental organizations. Evidence of the necessary source code license will also be required prior to the start of the class. Some of the topics covered: Kernel Data Structures; Raw and Block I/O; Terminal I/O; Writing Device Drivers; Process Management: internal representation, States and Queues, Context saving and restoring, Scheduling, Resource Allocation; Virtual Memory; Interprocess communication.
